Are You Going to Heaven?

At first thought, you might think, "Sure, I'm a good person".  But have you ever wondered what God thinks?

Let me ask you, have you ever told a lie?

Of course, everyone has lied at some time or another. Have you ever stolen something - even when you were a child?

Again, if you were completely honest, you would probably have to say yes.

What about looking at another person in a lustful way? Again, I think the answer to such a question is obvious.

And while those things may not seem so bad to us, what does God think?

In the 10 Commandments, God said not to lie. He also said not to steal. Jesus said in the Book of Matthew:

But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

- Matthew 5:28

Already, you have broken three of God's 10 Commandments. According to God's Word, where will you stand on Judgment Day?

And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

- Revelation 20:12

But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

- Revelation 21:8

God will Judge you according to His Word and you will be found Guilty.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

- Isaiah 55:8

Our problem is that we don't see our sin the way God sees it. We see lying as convenient, or at least as no big deal. God sees lying as something worthy of Hell. God is Holy, and His Holiness cannot allow sin to go unpunished. The Good news is that there is a way out:

Repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

- Acts 20:21b

Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

- Isaiah 55:7

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

- 2 Corinthians 5:21

Jesus Christ bore our punishment for our sin on the Cross. God said that if we would turn from our sinful way, and put all our faith in what He did on the Cross, He would abundantly pardon.

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

- John 1:12

Won't you put your faith in what God said today?

...the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

- Mark 1:15

Simply turn from your sins and believe God's Promise of eternal life, and He will save you

And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.

- 1 John 2:25

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

- 1 John 5:13
